    Musée d'Orsay

This museum was originally a train station built for the 1900 World Expo.

Located on the Left Bank of the Seine and housed in the former Beaux-Arts railway station built between 1898 and 1900, the Orsay Museum holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1914—including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photography. Late October 2011, the museum reopened its impressionist wing after a two-year and nearly $11 million renovation. Stunning new wall color and lighting showcase hundreds of works. The collection includes 34 Manets, 86 Monets, 43 Degas, 56 Cezannes, 81 Renoirs, 24 Van Goghs, and 24 Gaugins. A must see!

    Musée du Louvre

The world's largest art museum and a historic monument in Paris.

The Louvre, located on the Right Bank of the Seine, in its successive architectural metamorphoses, has dominated central Paris since the late 12th century. You'll discover the famous pyramid made of glass and metal created by architect I. M. Pei, built in 1989. The museum features a very impressive and prestigious collection including the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Winged Victory, and some great Vermeer!
